Yeah I think my rig helped me alot with this invite. Besides the fact that im a newsletter veteran and gamesday atendee.
8800 gts 640mb
2.4 quad core
Asus p5k3 motherboard
2gb of ddr3 1333 mhz ram <----- that probably helped alot
Fatal1ty sound card.
Im not trying to brag, but if you want to get in early stages of beta you might want to work on getting some of these parts. |

Hmm probably doesn't have anything to do with my "rig" ..as it is
a Win XP machine
AMD Athlon (tm) 64 x 2 Dual Core Processor 3800+, MMX, 3Dnow (2 Cpus)
2048mb ram - I actually have 3 gigs but Windows doesn't recognize more than what is stated hehe
160 gig Sata hard drive
sound card is RealTek AC97 audio
vid card is an Nvidia 7600 GT and I have no problems in any game..even Vanguard..with all its problems....

I saw a guy post that he was in the beta and has a Nvidia 6800 card so I don't think it is your computer. Of course he could have been lying also  |

Maybe I'm just unlucky.
I do have the event tag but not the vet tag, so that could be part of it as well.
I'd imagine (I know nothing about programming or development) that Mythic would want testers to have machines that would tear through even the most bloated code, so that if any problems do arise, they have no doubt that the problems stem from their software and not the hardware running the game.

You know...you need to think of the end product...that is: EAMythic does not want to turn customers away, therefore I would imagine they will be accomodating a RANGE of computers from low-end to high end .....they would be foolish not to.
Methinks its just a numbers game, personally if you can make it to those showings...I would do that, anything where you get to meet them publically, on their road shows.
I can't afford to do that so I am hoping instead, that maybe I'll luck out and get into their open beta at the end near release.
Currently getting in is pretty much as I said before like being struck by lightning. hehehe

Remember they want the game to be available to all kinds of gamers from the enthusiasts to the casuals, so they need to cater to many diff. rigs so I'm sure the comp specs play a lesser role in it after a certain point, they set a minimum requirement and then it becomes pointless because they want to optimize so that a certain level of rig can run the game. I especially believe this cause my rig is pretty tough and it's not even using half the power of it yet. |
