James had this to say over at WHA -
"What does this mean exactly? Well we have a number of eligibility requirements that must be fulfilled, these can be different depending on what we're currently looking for.
We will never share that criteria publicly as to ensure that we are as accurate as possible when we pull a list of invites.
Let me be perfectly clear when I say: I will never say "X Group will definitely get in" just as I did not above. We try to get as many priority invites in as possible, but it will never be everyone from that pool. We can only take testers who are eligible. Do not assume you meet these requirements.
We will continue to sweep the priority invite group each time we invite, anyone who is eligible at that time will have priority on the list. That is the best we can do to ensure that everyone who gets into the beta can be a productive member of the testing process.
We realize many of you see this as "unfair" or that we somehow lied to you. With the exception of the comment concerning getting in before summer (which we have apologized for as it was made in error) everything I have posted still holds true.
We realize that our criteria not applying to you can be frustrating, but we do our best and it is in fact my goal to ensure that you are not mislead and can have realistic expectations.
More invites will be coming. More people from event and contest associations will continue to get in as they become eligible.
And to note: Everyone invited on Friday was a member of an association and a priority invite. No random testers were selected.

I *think* that roughly means that your best chance of getting into beta is:
- Have associations
- Have a good gaming rig |

Heh I still say...that any game in beta..will require a range of different quality computers..pretty sure thats how they come up with the release info on what their game will support.
Lower end to higher range...I've been in a couple or three closed betas before..they need to accomodate whats going to be their customer base. Thats the reality of it. If they are testing particular kinds of machines with particular vid cards or capabilities..and you "happen" to fit their criteria for that week or two..then you'll probably get in....but it doesn't necessarily mean that you have to have the uberest machine in the world in order to qualify, if they based their testing on just the high end, they would lose alot of customers..who can't afford those machines.
Oh and by the way... I entered the January caption contest....evidently I won something...won't say what but..I was contacted by the EA Mythic marketting...surprised the heck out of me..almost spit out my coffee when I read that lol.

Well its confirmed that I am a Warherald beta winner..as to when I get to go test is yet another matter, but at least I have that to hang onto.
Are the captions for January out yet? Tried to look the other day, was interested to find out where I placed in the winner lineup..hehe
Mine was the one about "heya hun, remember that goldfish we flushed last year...well he's back...."

Well my computer is just 2 years old so highly doubt I'll be replacing anything soon, unless I beg my hubby for a larger monitor hehe.
Oh and yes..I'm female, you know.."there are no females on the intrawebs" according to popular opinion.

Yeah I heard there's a learning curve to it and...it takes forever to get anywhere ..like earn enough cash for a ship etc. You'll never beat the "elders" there..they've been there for years...they are way ahead of the game.
But I hear its fun, long as you don't mind losing your entire ship and thus all your goods and money lol

I'll just explain 3 things.
It takes less than 2 days to understand EVE Online.
It takes less than 1 week to get yourself a proper cash flow to buy ship, equipment yada-yada.
You can insure your ship, so when someone blows it up (a rare case, because this means you must travel into the low security systems) you get the ship back with a little cash bonus for equipment expenses.
P.S I'll add a 4th thing. Though true, you can't beat "the elders", you can join them in the battle between other "elders". Which is hell-o-fun. But enough as it is. Let's try to stay ON TOPIC. |
